The Simple Woman's Daybook
FOR TODAY
Outside my window...at 7:15 a.m. I can see the sun just starting to rise over the elementary school. It’s a cold and windy 45° with an expected high of 55°, and there’s a runner out who was obviously not deterred by the cold.
I am thinking...about how it’s the last day of January, and it seems as if we were just celebrating the beginning of the New Year yesterday. Time flies when you’re having fun.
I am thankful...for my sisters. They take care of me. They think of me when they’re out shopping. They call just to say hi. They let me vent. They tell me when I’m wrong. They are always there for me. They’re the best sisters a girl could ask for.
In the kitchen...breakfast is being prepared. Oatmeal for Heaven, my mom and me and Cream of Wheat for Adrian.
I am wearing...one of the five sleeveless dresses I almost always throw on after I brush my teeth and wash my face but before I get dressed for work. I’ve done it for so long I don’t know why I get dressed twice some weekday mornings.
I am creating...nothing yet, but my creative juices are beginning to flow.
I am going...to work in a bit, and I hope it’s warm in the building today.
I am reading...two books simultaneously – Wild by Cheryl Strayed and Grace for the Good Girl by Emily P. Freeman. It takes longer to get through them when I read more than one, but I couldn't choose between them.
I am looking forward to...traveling with my girlfriends to Virginia/D.C. next month to give another friend a baby shower.
Around the house...everyone’s getting ready to start their day except Phil who was up until 4:00 a.m. studying for an upcoming exam.
There’s still a poster on the wall from our New Year’s Eve party. Everyone wrote on there what they wanted to do in 2013. I should probably go ahead and take it down and put it away until the end of this year.
A favorite quote for today..."I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing." ~Agatha Christie
One of my favorite things...is the French Vanilla Yankee Candle. It smells so good.
A few plans for the weekend…grocery shopping with Phil to fill our fridge with fresh produce, Starbucks with Adrian, library with Heaven and, of course, the Superbowl
A peek into my month...

Every morning I write on Facebook a few things I am grateful for and it feels like your post. I love the Agatha Christie.
ReplyDeleteWe are alive. I don't know if you should take the poster down. Maybe it will serve as a daily visual reminder of where you guys are going this year.
Hope this year is magical for all of you.
